Privacy has always been the foundation of PillNest. In our latest update, we're giving you more control than ever: the choice between strict local storage and secure cloud convenience.
The Best of Both Worlds
For a long time, we only offered local storage. It's the ultimate in privacy, but it has downsides—if you lose your phone, you lose your data.
Now, with optional Google Sign-In, we've solved that problem without compromising our principles.
Option 1: Local Only (Default)
If you don't sign in:
- All data stays on your device
- Nothing is uploaded to our servers
- Perfect for those who want maximum isolation
Option 2: Cloud Sync (Secure)
If you choose to sign in:
- Your account info is securely stored via Firebase Authentication
- You can sync your medicine data across devices (coming soon)
- You have a secure backup if you switch phones
Why We Added Cloud Sync
We heard from many users who wanted peace of mind. "What if I break my phone?" "How can I manage my parent's meds?"
By adding an optional cloud layer, we can support these use cases while still protecting your data. We use industry-standard encryption and Google's secure infrastructure to ensure your information stays safe.
What We Still Don't Do
Even with cloud sync, our core promises remain:
- No Selling Data: We never sell your personal health info to advertisers or third parties.
- No Tracking: We don't track your location or behavior.
- You Are in Control: You can delete your account and all data at any time.
