When you use PillNest, you may enter:
- Medicine names and dosage information
- Alarm schedules and reminder times
- Medicine photos (optional)
- Inventory/stock counts
Account Information (Optional)
If you choose to sign in with Google, we collect:
- Email address - To identify your account
- Display name - To personalize your experience
- Profile photo URL - To display in the app
- Google account identifier - To securely manage your account
Signing in is completely optional. You can use all core features of PillNest without creating an account.
Information We Do NOT Collect
The App does not collect:
- Location data
- Device identifiers for advertising
- Contacts, call logs, or SMS data
How Your Data is Stored
Local Data
All medicine data, alarms, and settings are stored locally on your device. This includes medicine names, dosages, photos, alarm schedules, and inventory counts.
Cloud Data (If Signed In)
If you sign in with Google, your account information is stored securely with Firebase Authentication (operated by Google). In future updates, we may offer cloud backup and sync features, which would store your medicine data in Firebase Firestore.
Third-Party Services
PillNest uses the following Google Firebase services:
- Firebase Authentication: Account sign-in (collects Email, name, photo URL)
- Firebase Crashlytics: Crash reporting (collects anonymous crash logs)
- Firebase Analytics: App performance (collects anonymous usage statistics)

How We Use Your Data
App Functionality
Your medicine data is primarily used to display your medications/schedules, send reminder notifications, and track inventory.
Data Analysis & AI (Future Features)
To improve PillNest and provide personalized features, we may:
- Analyze medicine data to identify patterns and provide suggestions
- Use AI/ML technologies to generate insights
- Train and improve our algorithms using anonymized, aggregated data
Important Safeguards: Analysis is performed on anonymized data. You can opt-out in settings (when available). We will never sell your personal medicine information.
Data Security
We take data security seriously:
- All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS
- Firebase Authentication uses industry-standard security
- Local data is protected by your device's security features
- We do not sell or share your personal information
Your Rights
You have complete control over your data:
- Access: View all your data within the app
- Modify: Edit any information at any time
- Delete: Remove individual items or sign out to disconnect your account. You can delete your account in app settings.
- Data Portability: Your local data can be exported (in future updates)
Data Retention
- Local data: Remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app
- Account data: Retained while your account is active; deleted upon account deletion request
- Crash reports: Anonymized and retained for 90 days
Children's Privacy
PillNest is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
International Data Transfers
PillNest uses Google Firebase services, which may process your data in different countries, including the United States. By signing in, you consent to this transfer. You can use PillNest without signing in to keep data on your device only.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "Last Updated" date.
